Amstelveen en Plein Air 2024

Amstelveen, May 2024

It’s incredible what can happen under a deadline and the blue sky - It was my first time joining Amstelveen en Plein in May, and I gotta say I am excited to do it again next year. All signed up artists were welcomed by a friendly crew of volunteers who handed out a bag full of snacks and water to keep us going for the coming 8 hours of painting. From 9 to 5, artists were challenged to paint outdoors anything Amstelveen and to deliver the end result at the Cobra Museum, where it would be auctioned the next day.

We were all very lucky with the weather then, and I got even luckier at this spot in a park where I found my subject; a beautiful tree at the edge of the water. I simply liked very much how the water reflected on its base. I could not resist adding my Soukis to the scene.

This was the first time anything I’ve ever got to display my work in a museum - it was exciting and to my surprise, my painting was bought!

I hope it’s feeling at home and making its owners happy to look at it, it’s one of my favorites still!
